The idea to post some reviews of a few markets and coffee shops I have visited came to me as I found myself wondering around Bay Harbour Market on Saturday morning after I had just been at Blue Bird the previous evening. It dawned on me that I do spend a fair amount of time visiting markets and coffee shops and it is something that I really enjoy. I have tried to include the latest contact details so you can check them out for yourself. Enjoy!

My husband and I stumbled on this market a while back and what a great discovery it was! We headed through after work one Friday night, arriving around 18h30. As we walked into the garage we were welcomed by music, delicious smelling food, strings of colourful bunting hanging from the rafters and a feeling that we had stumbled on the meeting place of a whole bunch of good friends (in a good way, not in a clicky way). We wandered around the venue looking at all the delicious food on offer and feeling really spoilt for choice. This is definitely a place to come to for dinner (and dessert, but more on that later) and a drink… and a spot of shopping.
The majority of stores are food, a few dessert options and then some really interesting crafts – beautiful handcrafted jewelry, vintage clothes, art, books and deco items. We didn`t look too closely but there it a kiddies craft/play area towards the back of the garage that looks popular with the small fries.
We were there to eat so we made our pick (burger and wedges for me, beef wrap for Kevin) grabbed a drink at the great bar (red wine for me, craft beer for Kevin) and found ourselves a spot. As this is a popular market the tables were full but with such friendly folk who are willing to squeeze another bum onto the benches we didn`t look long for a seat. Dessert options are great with things like slices of cake, cupcakes, fudge etc.) so, again, it was hard to choose. I chose both Kevin and my own dessert (in other words, Cheesecake for me and Lemon Meringue Pie for me… hee hee) Stuffed from our delicious food we sat back with our drinks and took in the vibe… people were chatting and laughing and catching up after the week with some great live music playing in the background. It was a really chilled atmosphere and a lovely way to spend an evening.
Lastly, Blue Bird has started to write a short bio on each of their traders on their Facebook page – definitely something to keep an eye on. I think this is such a great idea – it`s great to find out more about the traders and how they came to making their products.
Note: Blue Bird hosts a Fashion Market on the first Saturday of every month – for more information and exact dates (as they do very rarely change slightly) check out Blue Bird`s website or Facebook page.
